We can't solve problems by using the same thinking we used to create them.

Family Therapy

We all wish to have a happy family; however, the dynamics involved are complex. Our situation might appear to others to be happy while the reality we face is much more challenging. Often, we are unaware of how our personal struggles affect our families – and how the struggles of our families affect us.

Family therapy can help repair and improve relationships where both internal and external stressors have led to fractures, conflict, or distress.

Reasons a family may seek therapy include:

  • A loss in the family
  • Substance abuse
  • Separation or divorce
  • Blending of families
  • Chronic illness
  • Mental illness
  • Shared trauma
  • Physical or verbal abuse
  • Behavioral or academic concerns in a child

Family therapy can be intense and, at times, one or more family members may not wish to attend. The therapeutic process can, however, begin with any combination of family members and your therapist will always work towards ensuring that every voice is heard.

Even if your family finds itself in crisis, we can offer constructive support and guidance. By facilitating greater, more open communication and helping you develop healthier, more successful ways to address problems, therapy changes the footing on which your family operates to one that is truly better for all.
