Abigail earned her Bachelors degree from Idaho State University in Health Education with an emphasis in Addiction Studies. She received her Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University. Abigail has experience working with homeless women and children struggling with addictions. Abigail’s background of working with the homeless population struggling with addictions is what led her to be a therapist.
Abigail believes in using a holistic approach to therapy regardless of which client steps through her door. She works with clients to integrate each aspect of themselves into a whole and healthy person. Abigail believes that underlying trauma and pain from a person’s past greatly influences who they are today and puts a special emphasis on how family roles impact that trauma. Identifying and processing the memories from past trauma is important for a person to be able to begin the process of healing. She found that she especially enjoys working with clients who struggle with PTSD, trauma, self-harm, substance abuse issues and those who have experienced domestic violence. Abigail focuses on a strengths based approach and working with setting emotional and physical boundaries, building healthy self-esteem, assertiveness and communication skills. The main therapeutic approaches she uses are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Somatic Therapy, and trauma informed substance abuse treatment. She is also a Shame Informed Treatment Specialist.
