Cary Schindler, LCSW, joined Tueller Counseling Services in July 2022. He received his Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice-Law Enforcement from Ricks College. He then graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with an Emphasis in Deviance, and a minor in Psychology. He received his Master’s Degree in Social Work from Louisiana State University in 2019. He is a Member of Phi Alpha Social Work National Honor Society. He earned his Idaho LMSW Licensure credential in 2019 and Idaho LCSW Licensure credential in 2022.
Cary is a dedicated mental health professional with almost 20 years of experience providing in-home, community, and office-based mental health services including PSR/CBRS, Case Management, Peer Support, and Counseling to children and adults with chronic and persistent mental illness. He has taught mental health support groups (Towards No Drug Abuse, Life Skills, and Life Skills Transitions) at Central Alternative High School and Valley View Alternative High School.
Cary is adept at identifying strengths in struggling individuals and guiding them toward meeting their rehabilitation goals. He is comfortable working with and providing support to all age groups and diverse populations, as well as experience with a broad range of mental health conditions. He enjoys working with individuals with varying needs.
Cary grew up in the Bay Area of California. He moved to Idaho with his family in 2002 and has called Southeast Idaho home for almost 20 years. When he isn’t working he enjoys spending time with his wife and 4 children, riding motorcycles and 4-wheelers, listening to music, cooking, and exploring new places.
Cary uses a variety of different counseling modalities including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Enhancement, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, and Behavior Modification. He has used these modalities to successfully help individuals, couples, and families with trauma (both child and adult), Anxiety Disorders, Depressive Disorders, Bipolar Disorders, ADHD, Schizophrenia, PTSD, Schizoaffective Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder/Asperger’s Syndrome, Adjustment Disorders, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and a variety of Substance Abuse Disorders. He is a Therapy Canine Handler and enjoys bringing his black lab Lucy with him to the office to work with his clients.
Cary enjoys meeting his clients where they are on their journey and helping them use their strengths to gain and utilize skills and tools which will help them to achieve their chosen goals. He believes that one’s past or present circumstances do not define their worth or their future. He is excited to be a part of his client’s journey toward finding greater happiness.
