Sean earned his Masters of Social Work through the Dworak-Peck School of Social Work at the University of Southern California with a focus on Mental Health and a sub-concentration in Military Social Work. His experience includes working with children to elderly adults dealing with family dynamic issues, (C)PTSD from abusive relationships, anxiety, OCD, depression, and difficulty adjusting to life's often changing circumstances. Sean's approach is one of eclectic problem solving, assisting his clients in finding the solutions that work best for them and become tools they have for life.
Sean is a Navy veteran who grew up near Chicago, has lived in most parts of the contiguous U.S., and has a broad variety of careers in his history from commercial acting in L.A. to nuclear safety on the INL site and many things in between. When not assisting clients Sean enjoys developing new skills like learning German and French, playing the guitar, archery, painting, knitting, and home repair.
The more overwhelmed we become, often because things feel out of our control or we have allowed problems to pile up, the more severe every problem feels and the more difficult it is to make a start in resolving our issues. Sean utilizes a combination of problem solving and mindfulness techniques drawing on evidence based practices (CBT, Mindfulness, Guided Imagery, Breathwork, DBT, Gestalt Therapy, and Psychoanalysis) to help alleviate client anxieties and self-sabotaging behaviors without judgment so problems can then be assessed and addressed effectively working toward a functional rewarding life.
Sean believes we can only solve problems with the tools that we have developed so it is essential to successful therapy that his clients are exposed to alternate solutions/strategies and develop awareness of how they may be getting in their own way or were not prepared for the problems that found them. His goal is that clients develop tools they can take through life and become proficient with in a variety of circumstances.
